Byzantine Chant
The chant ministry at St. Katherine is open to everyone who wishes to take part. The cycle of the Church's services and Byzantine chant are intertwined, and this ministry seeks to express the musical richness that matches the beauty and elegance of the Church's hymns. Sung well, the texts become "icons in sound" that draw the congregation closer to prayer and repentance in the presence of God.
We use Byzantine notation, but you don't need to know it to join. Some roles in the choir don't require a detailed understanding of the notation.
