Parish Council
"The Parish Council is responsible to the Parish Community and to the respective Hierarch for conducting all Parish affairs in keeping with the mission, aims and purposes of the Orthodox Church as set forth in the Uniform Parish Regulations." (Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America)
St. Katherine's Parish Council is first and foremost a ministry of the Church. Under the guidance of our parish priest, those who serve are called to represent the Church and the Orthodox Christian Faith with humility and love, imitating Christ, who came to serve and give His life for the world.
As elected leaders of the parish, council members work together and with other ministry leaders to build a healthy parish culture. Ongoing self-examination as a council, and continuing review of the strengths and weaknesses of parish ministries, are a key part of the council's work. Although much of their time goes to business and financial decisions for the good of the parish, those decisions are grounded in and guided by the parish's mission and vision.
Parish Council members are not necessarily the most business-minded among us, but those who are prayerful, Church-oriented and Christ-centered: faithful followers of the Lord who take an active part in the worship and sacramental life of the Church.

Serving on the Council
Each Parish Council member must have been a parishioner in good standing for at least one year immediately before the election, having filled out and submitted a Stewardship Commitment form for that year, and must live his or her life in accordance with the Orthodox Faith and the canons of the Orthodox Church. Members are elected by fellow parishioners in December and serve the number of years set by the By-Laws of St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church. The officers are President, Vice President, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer and Secretary.
